AU Week Idea

Hello! I have an idea for AU week, based on a tumblr AU that Maru wrote a while ago: no evil Empire. Just that--the Empire doesn't exist. The government is a republic, the Jedi are still around, and Baze and Chirrut will still be Guardians. What do you all think?

So is the Clone War still going on, then? Trying to figure out what that would mean for Ahsoka.

I guess Mandalore could be embroiled in a its own civil war, with Bo Katan's forces trying to wrest power from those loyal to Maul. I'm kind of liking the idea of the Nite Owls fighting an underground war against Maul's Deathwatch, tbh, and of course Sabine grows up within the conflict.

ETA: And what happens to Anakin Skywalker? Is Sheev Palpatine still in power or has he been taken out?

I love that you guys are thinking of things in your time period, I'm just not sure I see how this could work for those of us coming from the Clone Wars era.

Hmm, that's a good point! I don't know what happens to Anakin. My thought was that Palpatine never came to power at all. Presumably, Padme would still be alive, and she and Anakin would have a happy life together.

A civil war with Maul as the antagonist makes total sense to me.

Hello I'm sorry that this post and plot are THREE YEARS OLD but I was reading this community for Reasons and accidentally had thoughts!

There are two ways I could think of this playing out:

Option 1: Anakin, No.
The trade negotiations on Naboo go swimmingly. Palpatine never comes to power. There are minor skirmishes with the Trade Federation and the Banking Clan but they never manage to organise into a political movement. Tyrannus and Maul cause some issues but nothing that interrupts the political status of the galaxy.

Anakin and Shmi are sold to Cliegg Lars and freed. Anakin and his brother Owen get on fine, and Anakin protects his family from Tusken Raiders. Eventually, though, the wanderlust gets to him and he starts Spice running out of Mos Eisley. He grows into a dashing pirate and has an on-again off-again Thing with a Jedi Knight, much to the amusement of that Jedi's Torgrutan padawan.

Padme and Satine are in lesbians with each other.

The clones are never commissioned :(

Option 2: Anakin Yes
Anakin and Rex believe Fives. Anakin confronts Palpatine. Anakin kills Palpatine and nopes out of the Jedi Order. With Palpatine's collusion exposed, the attempts to negotiate peace are much more successful and Dooku is eventually defeated.

Obi-Wan is pleased to return to his rightful role as Peacekeeper, but he also adores his niblings more than is really appropriate. Padme and Anakin gave them the honest choice: Luke chose to join the Jedi Order, Leia did not (or vice versa).

Rex and Fives lead a group of clones to lay seige to Kamino, wrest control fro the Kaminoans and establish a free community of clones, trading on exported labour, biotechnology, and the loyalty of a wide diaspora. Eventually they start cloning from other sources, and work on restoring Kamino's ecology in order to acheive self-sufficiency.

Both of these are great AU ideas! I think option 2 would allow Ahsoka to be Anakin's padawan, though now I am wondering who she'd end up with if she's from Option 1. Plo is possible but perhaps too much attachment since he found her.

Regardless, feel free to breath new life into any post here!

I was thinking Obi-Wan, tbh. He was too young to really take on a Padawan when Qui-Gonn died, and would probably complete his training a bit more before he'd be ready.

Even then, the same things that made Ahsoka so well suited to Anakin in Yoda's mind would also apply to Obi-Wan. Although yes, it's likely he might have picked up a Padawan of his own earlier.

Oh I like this and now I'm wondering how different she'd be. I think she'd talk more often before the lightsabers came out, but not much else would change I think...given Obi-Wan trained Anakin and we know how he was. :P

In option 2 I think it probably is Luke --> Order, Leia --> Not.

I have more than enough canon to get Anakin through without delaying and distracting myself more than I already will be with Star Wars Day shenanigans. I probably won't be taking part.

Yeah. The more I think about it, I think I'll leave Ahsoka out of this. CW canon is enough to get through without side trips!

There are a lot of factors to make work in that. I'm planning on putting Cassian in a Leverage AU so I'll leave it to you guys.

Yes, because I have this image of Eliot and Cassian having fought together. They're the same sort of character, career soldier who's done things they're not proud of but constantly trying to do their best. Also if they decide that you're their person, they will never leave you behind.

Then Eliot kind of suggesting Cassian find himself a team, then there's the equivalent of Rogue One in that world.

I could see that. Bodhi would be a cargo pilot from a poor planet, working for the Republic who strikes up a friendship with a clean energy research scientist.

Absolutely. Jedha can still exist, they'll just not be under Imperial control.

Which means the two younger sisters he works hard to educate and elevate won't have to go off-world. Do you think the Guardian's provide schooling on Jedha?

Certainly! We've headcanoned that the temple takes in strays, and teaches martial arts and gardening and survival skills, so there's no reason they couldn't provide schooling to other citizens of NiJedha.

Awesome! I can see Bodhi mother-henning two young girls, both of whom are smart and capable. And maybe getting lost in the temple gardens while the girls are in classes. My head-canon is that Bodhi loves to cook and has a passion for fresh produce.

Definitely! Or to feed Chirrut. The man is a bottomless pit on the best of days, and the kitchen staff needs all the help they can get.
